Embracing Diversity Week 2021 Recap

BBSA was proud to host three events during UCLA Anderson’s Embracing Diversity Week. A brief recap is below, and make sure to check out the Zoom links in the "Catch the Replay" section!

"What Happens After You Break the Ceiling?" featuring Sheri Betts ('88), Laurel Joe ('97), and Veronica Vasquez ('11)
In this panel, three Anderson alumnae with collective experience in healthcare, organizational development, entertainment, sustainability consulting, and finance came together to discuss their journeys as women in leadership and the lessons they have learned. The panel covered personal coaching tips for women to advance their careers as well as examples of how organizations can be deliberate and programmatic about removing barriers to diverse and equitable leadership.

"Changing the Narrative for Women in Entertainment through Authorship and Storytelling" featuring Liz Jenkins, COO of Hello Sunshine
Moderated by our very own president Ashley Johnson (FTMBA '22), in this event Liz Jenkins talked about the challenges and opportunities that come with being your authentic self and using your voice to have an impact. She encouraged us all to celebrate and lean into the differences we bring through new ideas and opinions, and to foster the representation and openness necessary to create inclusive environments where people feel comfortable sharing themselves.

"Gaining a Seat at the Table" featuring Wanda Denson-Low, Senior Vice President, The Boeing Company (Retired) and Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees for Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
In a conversation by Deirdra Willis (EMBA '23), Wanda Denson-Low shared how she navigated her career to become Senior Vice President at the Boeing Company. Her story touched on a lot of key life lessons, including the importance of education as a tool for sucess, being intentional about balancing family with work, and how to make an impact in whatever job you have. She also shared “guideposts” or guiding principles she used as C-suite executive, which can be found here.

New MBA Cross-Program Networking Initiative

Have you ever felt disconnected from students in other programs at Anderson? We are kicking off a cross-program networking initiative to bridge the gap between FTMBAs, FEMBAs, and EMBAs to strengthen the BBSA community.

This is a great opportunity to meet new grad students, and broaden your network! Complete the matching survey here. Students matched with other MBA students on a quarterly basis.
